Decoding Your Sterling Silver Ring Markings: What Do 'C' and 'M(c)' Mean?

I have a sterling silver ring with the following inside: .925 (which I assume is the sterling silver) a C in a circle and what looks like a M in parentheses.  The stone is supposed to be aquamarine but it is darker than any I've ever seen.  I'm just curious what the markings inside mean...

Hello Lori and thank you for your inquiry. Sounds like a very nice ring ! You are right, the 925 means sterling silver. The C in a circle is for "copyright" and the M in parentheses could be either the manufacturer mark or a design or inventory mark. I have not been able to locate an M in parentheses in my manufacturer listings.  If you are concerned about the stone, have it checked by a gemologist for definite identification.  Hope this helps and enjoy your ring !
