QuestionI believe my question is within the parameters you requested - if not, please disregard. I *think* this is a quality mark question. :)
I found a fabulous looking 14k yellow gold (had gold tested and it's real) anniversary ring today at a resale shop in a box of junk. Got it for $5. On the inside it says "14k00CZ". I know what the 14k and cz are, but what does the 00 mean? I'm tempted to replace my engagement ring with this one, the CZ's are just gorgeous.
Thank you for your time.
AnswerJan, I am glad you found a good one and it is gold.
As for the 00, really I do not know what it might be. It is not related to the quality mark and that quality mark is simply 14k, which you know is valid. The 00 may relate to the makers mark or honestly who knows! : )
Even if the mark is not related to the metal quality, I could not simply disregard your question as you are quite courteous in asking it.
Keep one fact in mind: As lovely as CZ stones may look, to keep this sparkle alive you need to clean the ring fairly often. Soil of any sort on the back of the stones will dramatically reduce the sparkle. Mild dish detergent with water and a soft brush will usually do the trick.
There are CZ's and there are CZ's. Quality can vary tremendously. The basic difference in the really spectacular ones and the ordinary is the cut. Cut is important in diamonds and is also quite important in CZ gems. Most on the market are lower quality CZ. With the ring you found, you must have also found high quality CZ's.
Enjoy the ring. God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
