Identifying a Vintage 10K Gold Eagle Ring - WWII US Army Connection?
QuestionMy grandad found this ring on the beach. Its plain gold with an eagle in the middle with an eagle either side. Its quite worn but i think it says united states army. It says 10k on the inside of the band. Its quite a small size. Its been carved with the initials p.j. inside as well. I was wondering how old it could be as american GIs were in cornwall in WW2. Also what type of rank may of owned it.
AnswerHello Nicola and thank you for your inquiry. Great find ! Your ring could be a military ring and if you want to get more information, you'll probably have to take it to an estate appraiser or get some good pictures and use an online appraiser. Something like this actually needs a visual or hands-on examination before any determination as to origin, rank, value can be made. You could ask your local antique shop or museum for a referral to someone, maybe even a military
collector that can do this for you. I lived in Florida for awhile - 35 years and some fascinating items wash up on the beaches - always exciting. I've listed a site below that gives some information and pictures of vintage and current military rings that may be of interest to you.
