Why is My Gold Ring Changing Color? - Expert Advice

My husband bought a carat diamond ring for me from a reputable jeweler. That was in May of 09 and now September of 09 the gold top part of the band and the gold holding in the begets is now turning almost a rainbow color. Any ideas as to why?

Hello Linda and thank you for your inquiry. Your ring sounds lovely. It is possible the ring is comprised of several different types of gold and maybe one part is reacting to some outside application - cream, soap, etc. You might have your ring professionally cleaned or return it to the jeweler that it was purchased from for a cleaning and explanation for the change in color. Usually gold does not tarnish that much and if it does, normal cleaning will make it good as new.
