Identifying WION/WIOK Rings: A Guide to Vintage Opal & Diamond Jewelry
QuestionHello
I have a lovely ring opal & diamond, that is marked wion or possibly wiok , the letters possibly have two dots or horns above each hence not sure about the last being a n/k, I think the ring is at least from the 70's or 80's, there are no other markings, I from england and purchased from USA, the person who had it was unsure as to the maker was, but really would like to try to get some more pieces if knew who made it, have googled wion/wiok but no luck, any information you have or advice on where to research further much appreciated.
Kind regards
William Fleming
AnswerHello William and thank you for your inquiry. I have no listing for a wion or wiok in my references. Eventhough it was purchased in the US, it may be foreign - the dots above the letters make me think scandanavian. Does it have a sterling or gold marking ? You might have more luck if you could photograph the markings and the ring and have the photo enlarged. There are appraisal sites online that will research from a good photograph. One is "What's It Worth To You". They may have a reference book with more modern item manufacturer listings. Sorry I couldn't help on this one but if I do find anything, I will let you know. Good luck !
