Ruby Ring Mark Identification & Diamond Weight Inquiry

Question
Dear Sambhav Karnawat,

I purchased a beautiful ruby bandring with a special design. I did the purchase at a jewelry store that I rust but did not get a certificate for the ruby in the ring. The ring has set aside to the Ruby 4 diamonds (lowered in a lengthy opening) with a total weight of 0.14 ct.  The ring is 585 gold  mark(14K) and manufactures initials after this mark.
What I am pusseled is a additional mark that is " R 56 14".
Could this mean Ruby 0.56 ct and 0.14 diamonds?
The ruby has a size of 4mm x 6mm.
Another question regarding inclusions in th eruby - though it has a beautiful cut and a lovely red color (with light blue) am I wondering about the price of a loose ruby of this size that has visible inclusions.

I would love to hear from you your thoughts
kind regards
Josefine

Answer
Dear Josefine
Congrats on your purchase of the Ruby, King of Gems. Generally, the diamond weight & Ruby weight are mentioned explicitly, like 0.14cts + 0.56cts. That is the standard practice in at least India, USA & Italy. A 4x6mm facated Ruby weighs around 0.50-0.60cts. So, there is a good possibility that this could be the weight of the Ruby & the diamonds.

Though less likely, but it might also be the designer's internal design code.To be sure, I'd suggest you check with the store you bought the Ruby ring from.

For any idea on the price, I need to see a photo of the Ruby, is it possible that you could post a photo?

Hope that helps!

Best regards
Sambhav Karnawat
