Question
bling ring
Hello, I hope you can help because I have been searching for almost a year now. I have googled and phoned jewelers and asked them in person, and no one knows.
I have a ring that looks like it was hand made solid white gold and marked exactly "14KX" A jeweler confirmed it was solid 14K and said it was a NEW gold purity mark, but I think this ring is old and I have only found two references on line to 14KX. One ref'd an antique ring and the other was by an older gemologist who said it was a pure 14K mark.
I would really appreciate knowing when this gold purity mark was used( age)or find out how old this ring might be.
Thank you so much. I hope you can tell me.

AnswerHello Susan and thank you for your inquiry. I have searched all of my "gold" marks and information and have found nothing with a KX marking. The only suggestion I have is that maybe it was the
maker's way of indicating a particular design or quality. Unfortunately, if there is no way to find out the manufacturer it will be difficult to determine. If it was used a lot, there should be other instances of the mark somewhere. I found a site below that explains purity of gold and markings and may be of interest to you. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance and good luck in your research.
