Identifying a Vintage Ring: Crown & 'S' Stamp - 14k Gold

Question
I never looked closely at this ring, but today I noticed a symbol inside it and wonder if you could tell me what, if anything it stands for. On the inside of the ring there is a stamp of a crown. Then there is a sideways S stamp following it. After that it stamped 14k. It doesn't look like much of a ring, it looks hand made. There are two tiny little diamonds in the setting. I found it a long time ago but never thought it looked real so I put it in a ring box and forgot about it until now. I am just simply curious. Thank you :)

Answer
Hello Carrie and thank you for your inquiry. I apologize for the delay - my computer has been down. Sounds like you have a nice ring ! With the crown mark it could be a British hallmark and tthe 14K means it is 14 karat gold. Below is a site that includes British hallmarks and you may find it helpful to compare some of them to those on your ring. Since it is marked 14K, you might want to have a jeweler or gemologist examine it for valuation. Without a clear picture, it would be difficult for me to identify this marker's mark.  Just copy and paste the below url into your browser address field and hit enter:

Here is another site that may be helpful in explaining hallmarked jewelry.

Hope this helps and enjoy your ring !
