Identifying Vintage Sterling Silver Bracelet: Markings & Origin
QuestionI purchased a sterling silver bracelet with 8 individual onyx stones set in sterling silver flowers. Similar to a ribbon bracelet. The marks on the back of one is a crown, 925 and something that might be an anchor with the number 38. Actually it looks like a sternum and ribs with the number 38 :) At first I thought it was most likely Mexican silver or even Native American, but I have never seen these stamps before on Taxco or Native American silver.
AnswerHello Chery and thank you for your inquiry. Your bracelet's markings appear to be British, the anchor indicating made in Birmingham. I'm listing a site below that may help you match up your mark even better. Just click on the link or copy and paste into your browsers address field and hit enter.

You're right about the Taxco - usually the only marks used there were the assay mark - an eagle or letters and the designers marking. I've not seen a crown on either Taxco or NA pieces. Hope this helps and enjoy your jewelry.
