Identifying & Estimating Age: GENIMPEX R 1743 Sterling Silver Necklace

I also have a necklace 13 flowers linked together - looks like sterling silver flowers have black(?) in their 8 petals, each flower stamped genimpex r 1743 on the back.  Is it sterling silver? can you estimate age of item please? Am wondering how to clean??

Hello Yvonne and thank you for your inquiry. I have not been able to locate anything on this mark except a reference to an export company in Turkey.  Since there are no other markings you should have it checked by a jeweler for metal content.  Since the name cannot be verified, there is no way to determine the age. If the item is silver or sterling and there are no enamel or stones, a mild cleaner such as simichrome could be used on a q-tip for cleaning. Always test a small area first before using on the entire piece. Never use a liquid dip or water if the item has enameling or closed foil back settings.  Hope this helps and if I locate anything else on this company I will let you know.
