Sterling Silver Diamond Jewelry: History & Value

i just purchased a 10 caret bracelet on ebay and it is all set in sterling silver, is that odd or did they do this way back when? they said it was new but i think probably just new to them... thank you elizabeth

There is a whole lot of stones being set in silver now because gold is too expensive. Silver is only around $20+ an ounce and gold is at $1350+ an ounce! The rule was diamond are set in gold and color was set in silver. Now the gold costs more than the diamonds in many bracelets. So it is a trend in jewelry mfg today to work in silver so folks can afford to buy the jewelry. So it's new to all of us.
