Wedding Photography as a Gift: Should You Offer a Thank You?

We have a close friend who is going to take care of all the photography for our wedding as a gift to us. I almost feel bad for not paying him anything. Should we tip him or pay him something still?

Hi Breanna:

Since he is doing this as his gift to you, it would be inappropriate to give him monetary compensation.  However, you can give him a gift of appreciation.  When shopping for his gift, try to find something personal that will reflect the relationship you and your fiance share with him.  If that is difficult, then get him something that you know he wants or enjoys.
