Mammograms and Pregnancy: Safety Concerns & Timing

Question
I am 35 years old.  I have 3 children.  My last period was 2/2.  I had a mammogram 2/10.  I took a home pregnancy test which came out positive.  Is it safe to have a mammogram in the same month that you conceive?  Should I be worried? (Because I am)

Thanks,
Kim

Answer
If you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. You can only become pregnant if you have sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. You cannot become pregnant on any other day of the mponth unless you have a cycle that is less or more than 28 days. If your last period started on February 2,, 8you would not have ovulated until 15. Therefore, you could not have conceived prior to February 14. If you took the mammogram on February 10, the pregnancy would not have been effected by any radiation from the mammography. Don't worry. The daner is only at the exact time of the mammography. There are no residual effects and you have nothing to worry about.
