is it possible to have an intercourse soon after the periods...can i be pregnant then

You can certainly try as soon as your period is over.  However, there are only six days during your cycle when you are able to get pregnant.  These are the four days before and two days after ovulation.  If you have very short cycles and/or very long luteal phases, you may ovulate within a week of the end of your period; however, it is more likely to be a little farther out.  The best way to determine when you are ovulating is by using Natural Family Planning methods.  Monitoring your cervical mucous, shape, and position can help you predict ovulation, and temperature charting can help you confirm it.  This is the best way to maximize your chances of conception.
