Post-D&C Bleeding & Trying to Conceive: What to Expect

Hi. I had a d&c on august 6 when i had a miscarriage at 14 weeks pregnant. since my procedure ive been bleeding.It comes and goes but still have had the bleeding. Is this normal? should i be worried?Also i was wondering how soon could I start to try to concieve again? Thanks Sandra

Hi Sandra,

It is normal to bleed off and on for about 6 weeks after your D & C.  It is also too early to try and conceive at this point.  You want to have 2 normal menstrual cycles before you conceive again.  The reason behind all this is to make sure that your homrones are regulated, and that the lining of your uterus is fresh, and not too thick or thin.  It will be worth the wait!  The chances of you miscarrying again if you don't wait are greater.  Good luck!
