Low Fetal Heart Rate in Early Pregnancy: What to Do?

Question
I'm 29 years old and I have one son who is 3 years old.  The fist day of my last menstrual period was Sept. 19 and on Oct. 29 I started bleeding it was enough blood to go through my clothes.  I went to see my dr. on Oct. 31, by this time I wasn't bleeding any more. I had a vaginal ultrasound the dr. said that there was blood around the sack and that the heart beat was too low 92bpm.  I had another ultrasound done today and the radiologist said the heart beat was even lower this time it dropped to 78bpm she said that the doctor will call me later to discuss the result since she was at a c-seccion at the time.  But, the wait is killing me! I would like to know, what is going on?  After the initial bleeding I only had a discharge for a day the spotted again on and off since Nov.3 with brown discharge most of the time, but all day yesterday and today has been "normal" no spotting and no discharge.  Does the low heart beat mean I will miss carry?

Answer
Usually, when the fetal heartbeat keeps dropping below the normal heartbeat of 120/min, it is not a viable pregnancy. You probably will miscarry. Your doctor will probably give you the option of repeating the sonogram or having a D&C to remove the products of conception. If there is blood around the gestational sac, it does not allow for adquate growth and usually leads to miscarriage. I'm sorry.
