Understanding a 20-Week Scan Cyst: Causes & Next Steps
QuestionMy 20yr old daughter had her 20 week scan today. The scan revealed a cyst approx 1" in length attached near the bile tube ? My daughter has been asked to return for another scan in 4 weeks for further assessment. The cyst is clearly evident on the photo scan that has been taken today. Can you please explain why this may have occured, is it common, is it anything to worry about? She has been told she is having a boy. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Tracey Hahn.
AnswerI can't comment from your description. Find out exactly where the cyst was found. Certainly, a 1" cyst (2.54cm) is usually insignificant wherever it is found. Are you sure it was from the bild duct, or was it near the fallopian tube or ovary. Was it an ovarian cyst or a corpus luteum cyst? If it is not in the uterus, it will not effect the baby, which is well protected in its sac. Is it your daughter or in the fetus itself? Do you have the offical report of the scan? If you could tell me exactly what it says, I can comment. Don't worry.
