Mucus Plug Discharge at 16 Weeks: Normal or Concerning?
QuestionI just lost "some" of my mucous plug this AM. No bloody show just yellowish jelly like mucous. I am only 16weeks along; is this a normal occurance or a sign of something wrong? this is my 6 pregnancy and would be my 4 live birth. All ultrasounds to this point have been perfect.
Thank you.
AnswerIt is quite common to have occasional mucusy discharge from the vagina throughout your pregnancy. It is not loss of the mucus plug but merely some vaginal discharge. At around 36-37 weeks, you will have the "bloody show" which is mucus combined with blood that indicates the loss of the plug that protects the baby for the entire pregnancy. Don't worry. As the pregnancy progresses, you will get more and more discharge.
