Slow Fetal Heartbeat & Concerns at 7.5 Weeks Pregnant: What to Do

Question
I am 7 1/2 weeks preg. and last week Nov,5 I got a vaginal ultrasound done they say the little baby and the heart beat. but when the report came in it said, that the baby's heart beat was found to be slow so I needed to get another one in one week so I did and this time there was no heart beat. So I need a follow up in another week is it possible for the baby to still be alive and have a heart beat this time and im just about going on 8 weeks please let me know?

Answer
Dear Veronica

It is unusal to have a healthy baby in the absence of fetal heart beats especially if seen in the week before. However, in a minority of cases, falacies do occur due to abnormal position of the baby, problems with the ultrasound machine or inexperienced sonographer. That's why a repeat ultasound i mandatory before a final diagnosis is made.
