Trying to Conceive After Stopping Birth Control: Ovulation Timing & Tips

Question
I am going to be 25 next month, and my last cycle started 11/12/05. (0 children) On thursday 11/17 i was told to start birth control pills because my period was light because I have developed a cyst on my right ovary. My husband and I want to skip the birth control and start having children instead. I have been taking prenatal vitamins and Stopped the pill yesterday, 11/27. (it was my last pill taken, number 10 in the pack.) I wanted to know that now is the time I usually ovulate, but because I have taken the pill for 10 days, will i not ovulate this month? When should i expect to? How does that work? Will a cyst on my ovary make it difficult to have children?

Answer
You will not ovulate until around 14 days after you start bleedng. You probably did not ovulate this month because you were taking the pill. There is no reason to wait.  If you stopped the pill on November 27, you probably will start bleeding in a few days. You should ovlate in around 14 days following the onset of your bleeding. You can start trying to conceive at any time. Ovarian cysts will not interfere with your attempts to conceive. Good Luck.
