QuestionI've been having sex for 8 months now and i still can't get pregnant. The Begining Of My Last Cycle Was On June 23, 2006 and the last day of it was June 27, 2006. When Would It Be Best For Me To Try TO Concieve?
AnswerHi Ashley,
The peak time for a normal cycle would be anywhere from 10-15 days after the first day of the last period.
So, based on what you tell me, you got your period on june 23rd... counting forward you should be ovulating anywhere from July 3rd- July 8th, (give or take) The body is not a perfect machine- this is why there would be a big window of opportunity. The actual time you are fertile in this window is much smaller of course, but since it could be ANY time in this window, one never knows.
I dont know if this is true or an old wive's tale, but it worked for me: I have heard that having too much sex can actually lower the man's sperm count. Trying too hard, so to speak. So when I was trying to get pregnant with my son years ago I calculated every other day during this window of time, that is all. It worked. I do not know how or why, but like I said, I have heard of this method before, (the every other day thing) it worked for me.
So if you wanted to try this methood you could try on July 3rd, 5th, 9th, 11th. Or July 2,4,6,8, Whatever makes you happy. Of course this is not proven and just an idea- I cant guarantee anything, but I figure it may be worth a try?
You could also use one of those ovulation detectors that you can buy in the stores. I have never used them but they can be useful.
Good luck- I know it is frustrating, believe me I know! Most doctors will tell you that trying to get pregnant for up to a year, maybe even longer, is totally normal and NOT an indication of anything wrong. You are still well within this time frame.
Hang in there! Good luck- I'd love to know if this method worked for you, though. Keep me posted if you would like!
