Restarting Birth Control: Safety & Considerations

Question
I started taking the pill about 3 months ago to regulate my periods and I would like to stop taking it because I sometimes feel bloated and uncomfortable. I am not sexually active so I know I will not get pregnant. Is it safe to stop and start the pill? If I decide to start taking it again (possibly within a few months of when I stopped), will this cause any harm to my body?

Thanks

Answer
The pill doesn't cure anything.  The "regular" periods you have on the pill are not really true cycles but merely forced bleeding.  The side effects you have are signs that this is not good medicine and I wouldn't go back on it ever again.  It is certainly safer to stop taking the pill than it is to keep on taking it.  Have you read the package insert?  Those side effects definitely happen to real people and you could be one of them.
