Stopping Birth Control & Trying to Conceive: What to Expect

Question
I had been on birth control for 9 years (pill form).  I just heard that you are only supposed to be on it for a max of 3 years is this true?  Also, I have been wanting to get pregnant but not really trying or preventing.  I have been off of my birth control for over 14 months and nothing has happened, should I have any concerns?

Answer
Hi Natalie,
Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor and have not heard of what you are saying about being on the pill a max of 3 years. I was on the pill for longer than that myself but I would not recommend it with what I know now. I don't recommend the pill or any hormonal methods now. I don't want to be too personal but I would need to know some more information about the frequency of your sexual relationship, etc. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
I would be a little concerned but I can probably help you out with advice about Natural Family Planning.
