Pre-eclampsia: Irritability & Confusion - What Do They Mean?

Question
Is major irritability/agitation, & some confusion a sign of pre-eclampsia?  Because there was a trace of protein in my urine and I've been abnormally irritable and have had a couple of confusion states.

Answer
No. Preeclampsia is a triad of hypertension, proteinurea, and edema. In addition, there can be alteration of platelets and liver function studies. However, confusion or altered state-of-consiousness is not a sign of preeclampsia. It is difficult to assess irritabilityu or agitation and they can be caused by many different factors.
