Im 18 years old and pregnant with my first child. My last period was March 24th. My boyfriend and I had sex on April 5th and 6th, according to ovulation calculators i would of ovulated on April 7th or 8th. Intercourse also took place on April 11th now whats confusing is that my doctor says conception could of takin place on April 11th but i thought fertilization can only take place 24-48 hrs after ovulation, can you please clear this up for me so i know when conception possibly took place?

If you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovlation occurs on cycle day #14. YOu can only become pregnant if you have intercourse on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16 because the sperm can only remain viable for 12-24 hours and the egg (ovum) can only live for 24-48 hours. Therefore, if your last period started on March 24, you would have ovulated on April 5 and could have conceived on April 4,5,6, or 7. If your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, you have to adjust those days. Ovulation occurs 14 days PRIOR to the start of your period. If you, therefore, have a 30 day cycle, you ovulate on cycle day #16 rather than cycle day #14 (in a 28 day cycle).Let me know how many days your normal cycle is and we can figure out exactly when you ovulated.
Ok I understand what you mean now. My periods would usually come in 28 day cycle but about 3 months before my last period it would start to come around in a 30 day cycle. So since my periods occur on a 30 day cycle, what dates were conception possible?
AnswerIf you had a 30 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurred on cycle day #16 (fourteen days before cycle day #30). Therefore, you could have conceived on cycle day #15,16,17, or 18. If your last period started on March 24, then ovulation occurred on April 8 and you could have conceived on April 8,9, 10 or 11.
