Fetal Development: From Zygote to Brain Formation & Body Growth
QuestionHello.
My question is what makes the fetus develop when it is first a zygote. I am wondering if it is neurons that later become the brain. When does the brain develop, I suppose I am really asking, and does the fetus' brain take a role in further developing the body inside the womb?
The reason I am curious is because I am doing a research paper about ADD [including a few other mental health disorders], and I am just trying to see if there is any possibility that how the brain is developed affects how the rest of the body is developed before it is born other than genetics.
Thank you for reading this and have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Theresa
AnswerThe answer to your question is far to extensive to be able to answer in this forum. I would refer you to a standard emtryology textbook, which explains embryogenesis and how each organ system develops and proliferates from a single cell. Good Luck. It is extensive reading. You may also wish to peruse a neurology textbook as well. Even after reading how the neurological system develops, it will be difficult to correlate it to ADD or other mental heath problems.
