QuestionHi. Im 37 weeks 5 days pregnant and am scheduled to have an amnio in 4 days to check the development of the baby's lungs so that I can have a c-section on the following day. Im extremely high risk due to many circumstances and that is one of the reasons that I will be having a c-section, but realistically, at this stage of development, do you really think that the baby's lungs are ok for delivery?
AnswerDear Raquel,
Babies are generally considered full-term at 37 weeks. There is a very good chance that your baby's lungs are developed enough so that you can deliver at this point.
If, by chance, they are not, they would likely give you a steroid medication to assist in developing the lungs.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well, a joyous delivery, and a speedy recovery!
