QuestionI am 36 weeks and 3 days with a girl. I have serve RA and need to be back on my meds. I am unable to move my right side now. The doctor wants to induce. We did an amnio yesterday and the lungs were not developed enough yet. What else can I do and how long do you think I will have to wait. I am miserable at this point, but I don't want to place my daughter at any risk. I have been off and on steroids the entire time. I am currently taking a dose pack for my current flare, but as soon as one is over I flare again. The baby weights 6lbs 11 oz at this time.
AnswerHi Jody :)
I am sorry to hear about your RA issues. Its probably one of the most debilitating, painful conditions a person can have.
Well, There are medications (Injection) that can be administered to speed up the develop of the lungs for your baby. Regardless, you will be considered full term, by 37 weeks.
If for whatever reason, they decide against giving you the medication to speed the process up, once you reach 38 weeks, you should be able to delivery safetly, and your baby should be just fine.
I assume, you are taking prednasone for your pain, wonderful drug, but the effects are herendous. I only assume you are taking that steroid, because its the drug of choice for severe flareups.
Your daughter is a good weight. So, you can try and hang off, for about another week and a half, and see what the doctors say then, or, you can inquire about the meds that you can be administered to speed up lung development.
Hope this is of some help, and I really hope you feel better soon ..
Anything else I can help you with ..please feel free to write back :)
