QuestionHi, i kinda overused fetal doppler between 20 to 22 weeks pregnancy becuz of the concern of abnormal fetal heartbeat during that period. Especially in the first few days, i used the doppler to listen to my baby's heart beat three times a day maybe 20 minutes per time. Could you tell me if there is any potential harm to the baby? thanks a lot. Also my doctor has a mini ultrasound doppler in his office, and he also used it everytime for a quick check, is it too much as well? thanks a lot for your help
AnswerHi Honour :)
No, your baby is in not danger from the doppler. Doppler sounds, and ultrasound imgages, are all heard and seen from soundwaves. Soundwaves do not give off radiation, or any other harmful material, like x-rays. So you are just fine:)
Most OBGYN have dopplers in their offices, if they posed any harm they simply would be used, only if there was concern. But they are used routinly, just for checkups :)
Hope this is of some help, and thanks for writing:)
