Conflicting hCG Levels & Pregnancy Dating: What Does It Mean?

The first day of my last period was on 4/20/06. My periods are not like clockwork, but they come somewhere between every 25-31 days on average. i tested positive with a home preg test on may 18th. went to the doctors on may 19th and had labwork drawn. Yesterday, may 25th, nurse called me to tell me that my hcg levels are only putting me at 1-2 weeks, while they feel i should be almost 5 weeks. i don t know what the level was exactly. i went in to the office and had my hcg levels repeated, but have to waut 24 hours for results. should i be worried? or do you think my dates were just off.

You have not mentioned the value of HCG that wqs found. The range of HCG is very large and I can't tell if your values were low or high. At 5 weeks, the values range from 11.000 to 50,000/ You can see that the range is very broad. It wuld be better to wait until 6 weeks from your last period (June 14) and take a sonogram. Then  youo will know your exactly how far you are. (Prior to 6 weeks, a sonogram does not show a fetus or a fetal heartbeat . After 6 weeks, it does show a fetus and a fetal heartbeat.
