QuestionI am really confused, according to my LMP I should be 6 weeks, but on the Thurday my HCG level was 142 then on Sunday it went up to 1200 why would it jump so quick in 2 days, and is it ok to take extra strength tylenol.
AnswerThere are a couple of possibilities, not the least of which is that the lab may have made an error or mislabeled the tubes. In the case of no lab error, hCG levels are not always so predictable. The key is that the levels are increasing, which is a good sign. Typically the levels at least double in two days. That is not to say they can't go up faster than that. Also, if there is more than one pregnancy (twins), the levels can rise faster. If you are concerned, your doctor can do an ultrasound to visualize the pregnancy to determine if the pregnancy is progressing as it should.
Tylenol is safe in pregnancy. Just don't take more than 2400 mg in a 24 hour period.
