Abdominal Cramps, Diarrhea & Vomiting in Early Pregnancy: Is It Serious?
QuestionI am 9 weeks pregnant with twins, last night I was woken up by severe abdominal cramping followed by several bouts of diarrhea and vomitting. Four hours later the diarrhea and vomitting has subsided but I am still having mild abdominal cramps. Is this cause for concern?

AnswerIt is certainly normal to have severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. Diarrhea can be controlled by Kaopectate, Lomitil, or Immodium. Make sure you maintain hydration by drinking lots of fluid. You can ask your doctor for Zofran to control the vomiting if it is severe.
