AnswerDepoProvera is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. HOwever, it has three annoying side effects. It can cause complete cesation of yoor periods, it can cause irregular bleeding at variuls times of the month, and it can cause unpredictable bleeding for many months after stopping the shots. Spotting is not a symptom of pregnancy. If you believe you have missed a period, take a pregnancy test (as you did). If it is negative, and you are trying to conceive, you may have to regulate your period before you can conceive. You may not be ovulating. If the tests that you took were negative, you are not pregnant, despite your symptoms. If you have any doubts, take two blood tests for pegnancy, 48 hours apart. A doubling of the results in 48 indicates a viable pregnancy.
