Post-Abortion Pregnancy: Understanding Delayed Cycles and Testing

Question
I had a surgical termination 9 weeks ago. I was around 7-8 weeks  pregnant. I've my 1st period after the termination from 11-16 dec 08. Only thing is till now i'm yet to have my second cycle of period after the terminations.Due to that, I have taken one home pregnancy tests and it come back positive. I'm worried sick that I'm pregnant again which is puzzle me. As ever since the termination, me and my fiance have 100% protected sex with condom instead of natural family planning(NFP) as we've an accident last time with NFP. I will be going to take another home pregnancy test again sometimes this weekend and if the results turn out positive, I'll  fix an appoinment with my GP sometimes next week for further test & confirmations.Until then I'm very worry and stress as i really dont want to get into that mess again after all i go thru last couple of months.

Please help with any advice.

Thank you

Answer
Dear Zoey,
It's possible that the pregnancy test is still positive from the pregnancy in December.  It can take up to several months for a pregnancy test to turn negative, so cross your fingers.

If you are pregnant, you do not need to be concerned that you just went through a procedure. Medically there is no problem ending the pregnancy, or continuing it, so you should make a decision based on what you want to do.  You may find my website helpful: earlyabortion.com.  There are other options besides surgical abortion for ending early pregnancy that you may want to consider.

I hope this is helpful,
