Uterine Bleeding During Pregnancy: 10-Week Ultrasound Results & Concerns

Question
I was inseminated arpil 12th 2005.
yesterday I had an echo everything was good.  This morning I woke up with a bit of pain aroung my pubic symphysis area.  It went a way around mid morning I had a few drops of blood some toliet paper.  I had a miscarrige in feb. of this year so haveing seen the blood I called the doctor and went to have another echo.  In the echo she said the baby was fine but there was a small area of bleed in my uterus.  That brings about my question. Is my baby in danger again and If i have a mucus plug that keeps everything out how is it possible that I could have bleeding in my uterus and it show up on my tp?  I am currently living over seas and find getting strait answers from the doctors here very hard.  You response will be very helpful to us.

thank you
Debbie

Answer
If you weree inseminated on April 12, I have to assume that the date of your last period was on March 30. Therefore you wold now be 9 weeks 5 days pregnant. The bleeding is most likely due to a "subcnorionic bleed' which is a sequestration of blood within the folds of the eveloping placenta, which is common between 9-13 weeks. This usually dissapates on its own and has no effect on the growing fetus. If the sonogram showed that the baby is fine and there is adequate growth, don't worry about the bleeding. As long as you do not have lots of pain and heavier and heavier bleeding, don't worry about it.
