Post-D&C Bleeding: What to Expect & When to Worry

I had a miscarriage late Aug/early Sep; I began to hemorrhage and had a D&C on Sep 4.  The bleeding from the D&C stopped within a few days and then I began to have a yellowish discharge.  This was checked at my 2-3 week post-op appt, was determined not to be a yeast infection.  The next day I began to bleed and I assumed it was my first period.  The blood was dark, thick with some clots.  It was heavy at first, then tapered off after 4-5 days.  I continued to spot since then, mostly bright pink spotting.  This past Friday, the bleeding got heavy again, but this time the bleeding is bright red, with few if any clots.  I know this is not my period.  I also have cramping.  I'm concerned that I could hemorrhage again.  I called my doctor last week, but she is out of town.  I have an appointment on Tuesday and am worried that she will tell me it is totally normal (I don't have much confidence in her anymore).  I've not had any hormone test or ultrasound since the D&C.  Should I ask that these be performed?  I have been bleeding since mid-August now.  Just really frustrated and need some advice.  Is this normal??

I am sorry for getting back to you a little late. I think you should go to the Emergency Department if you have bright red bleeding!! I don't think you could be pregnant again, but she might have missed a piece in there. Call your doctor or go to the hospital!
