how do i know if i concieved, i had sex on the 06/08/2006 and my period ended on the 28/08/2006 and it started on the 25/08/2006

you got a short period August 25-28? Are you talking about conception on June 8th or August 6th? I am assuming August 6th because of the way you wrote the other dates..
Getting your period is a sign you are not pregnant... but if your period was very different, much lighter, much shorter than usual, you could always try a home pregnancy test just to be sure.
I do not think you are pregnant, but you could try again this month if you are trying to conceive. Your most fertile time should be around September 4th-8th. I say "should" be... the body is not a perfect machine and you could ovulate earlier or later...

HI Arlene,
ok that changes things then! How do you know if you conceived? If you do not get your period this month (and it should be due right now, right?) go get yourself a home pregnancy test.
if the test is positive, you are pregnant!
if the test is negative, you should re-test in a few days afterwards as it may be too early for the home tests to work. The home tests work by picking up amounts of HcG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine. THis hormone increases with time.
You could also go to your doctor and get a blood test called a Quantitative Beta HcG. THis will tell you if you are pregnant or not.

Too early to tell= in very early pregnancy the hormone levels are too low for home tests to pick up, so it may read as negative, when you are really pregnant. This is why it is always recommended to follow up with a second test if you get a negative but do not have a period yet.
Home tests usually pick up and read positive when your HcG level is about 100. A doctors office urine test will pick up at about 25. In very early pregnancy this level may be too low, like 50, and so there is not enough hormone for a home test to pick up. this is why I recommended for you to see your doctor and have them do a blood test. The blood test can detect ANY amount of HcG in your blood.
Since your period is not here, I would assume you are pregnant; you need to call your doctor and find out for sure.
