Possible Pregnancy Symptoms & Concerns: A 24-Year-Old's Experience

Question
I'm 24, no children, and the date of my last period was 10/31ish.  I usually have a 26-27 day cycle.  Had sex 11/3-4.  Have experienced mild cramping consistently in left side of abdomen for several weeks (not normal menstrual cramping for me), breast tenderness, fatigue, lack of appetite, mild headaches for 2 weeks straight, over-emotional.  The cramping is occasional now and the breasts are only tender at the nipple area (so they both have lightened up, instead of worsening).

So with that said- I have been under a lot of stress lately, too.  But not abnormal for me.

Okay, the past three days I have spotted (light, red).  So little that I don't need a pad/tampon, but enough so that it is noticable.

I have taken 3 home preg tests, all negative (incl. one from this morning).  What's the likelyhood of my hcg levels not rising correctly, to be detected before/during missed period?
If they aren't rising correctly, would a test next week be accurate, or still be low?

I don't mind not being pregnant, but the symptoms are bugging me.

Answer
If your last period started on October 31, the earliest that you could have ovulated would have been on November 13 and you could only have conceived if you had sex on November 12,13,14, or 15. YOu could not have become pregnant on any other day of the month. If you did become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test would not have shown a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. Since you were due for your period on November 27, you have not missed a period yet and, if you do not get your period by Dember 4, take a pregnancy test. At this time, it is too early to tell. If you have started to spot in the past few days, you probably are about to get your period.
