Early Pregnancy Test: When to Test for Accurate Results

Question
My husband and I are trying to conceive our 3rd child. We tried on the 6-10th bc according to the calendar that would be the time to try. I usually get my period around the 24th of the month. I took a test today and it was negative..but I dont feel like I usually do when I am going to get my period. Do you think it is just too early to test? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Kelly,

I think it is way too early to test. You need to wait until at least the 22nd or 23rd and even then, urine pregnancy tests may be inaccurate until after you miss your period.  I recommend you use "First Response" to test at home with.  If you test again on the 24th and it is negative and you still haven't gotten your period, have your doctor send you for some bloodwork to confirm pregnancy.  Good luck!
