QuestionI am 6 weeks pregnant and it is my first pregnancy and I've been experiencing mild lower abdominal pain and brown color discharge. The pain started 1 week ago and it was worse then but it is now mild and less often...i presume that it is a good sign. as for the brown discharge, it covered my half panty 5 days ago and it has been happening everyday or every other day or sometimes twice or three times a day. Today I again experienced a small brown spot and I must say that the spots have decreased in size from Friday. My concern is that shall I be worried about these and is there any likelihood of miscarriage.
AnswerHi Shabana :)
Spotting during the first trimester is quite common. You said that your disharge, was brown in colour, and this indicates old blood. So this simply could be a result of some left over impantation matter.
Miscarriage, usually is assosicated with clotting, and bright red bleeding. Aslong as your are not experiencing those symptoms then I think you are okay.
The pain you are suffering could very well be just from your uterus starting to expand. Its called round ligament pain. Mild cramping is common, when your uterus, and the surrounding tendond and ligaments start to stretch with your growing uterus. This is all normal, and not generally a reason to be concerned.
I really think you are okay, and just experiencing normal sensations associated with pregnancy.
But I do suggest, that you do make your doctor aware of what you have been noticing, incase their are changes. I really dont think your doctor will have much concern, but I think you should make him aware :)
Hope this answers your question, and thanks for writing!
