Lower Abdominal Pain & Infertility: Understanding Symptoms & Causes
QuestionI have so many symptoms and I am worried that something might be wrong. I have been married for a year now and I have been trying to get pregnant since then and still nothing . I'm 22. I have irregular period from 31-47 cycle days. Around the time when I am close to have my period, I feel all those unexplained symptoms: pelvic pain, burning sensations like where my ovaries are, achy-stomach, period-like cramping, all kinds of twinges and one side or both of my loer abdomen, some shap pain on the sides. I have fequent urination(I have that throughout the whole cycle), nausea, a lot of food cravings specially sweets. I basically feel all those things like around a week before my period every cycle. I have done blood test 0n cycle day 3 and 21, vaginal ultrasound, pelvic sono and everything looks fine. I am schedule for a hsg on my next cycle. I was on cycle day 58, the longest I had when I went to my Gyn Dr. and she put me on provera after negative pg test to induce period. I just wanted to know if anyone haven't had any of those symptoms and how come I experience them before having my period? What could that possibly means? Sorry for writing so much. Thank you for all your time.
AnswerThe symptoms you describe (pelvic pain, burning, achyness, urgency, nausea) are common just before you get your period. However, if you have not had a period for so long, you should have it induced for you using Provera 10mg twice a day for 5 days and you should get your period within 10 days. Then you should go on birth control pills for a few months (even if you are trying to get pregnant) in order to regulate your period. If your period is not regulated, you may not be ovulating and will not conceive. The causes for the symptoms you have just before your period can be due to gastrointestinal and hemodynamic changes at the time of your period.
