-----Question-----
my question is my husben and I want to have a baby and my pirod is late 2 weeks I toke a pregnancy test and it was negative can I be pregnant and the test be wrong?
-----Answer-----
Dear Yadira,

Although it is possible that your hCG may not be high enough to read positive yet, if you took the test two weeks after your period was expected and missed, it is likely accurate.

Make sure when you test that you are using 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.

If you begin to have symptoms of early pregnancy such as swollen, tender breasts, headaches, backaches, nausea and/or vomiting, fatigue or tiredness, then you can try to test again. However, my suggestion is to simply keep trying at this point and wait to see what your next cycle brings.

Having sex every other day during the week leading up to your ovulation day and on your ovulation day will increase your odds of conceiving. Typically, you will ovulate around the 15th day of your cycle if you have regular 28 day cycles. Watch your cervical mucus - it should get abundant and have an egg-whites consistency when you are about to ovulate.

I hope this information helps you and answers your question. I wish you well and fantastic luck.

Answer
Dear Yadira,

It is possible that you may be pregnant. However, you will need to confirm with a positive pregnancy test.

Wait another week and try testing again with a home pregnancy test. Or - you can go to your doctor's office or local women's clinic and ask for a quantitative blood pregnancy test (a serum beta hCG test) that will give you an actual amount of hCG in your bloodstream rather than simply a positive or negative result. Any level of 25 mIU/ml or more would be considered positive for pregnancy.

I hope this information has helped.
