Faint Positive Pregnancy Test Followed by Bleeding: What Could It Mean?
QuestionHello
I have had a couple of faint positive pregnancy tests (done 4 days before my period was due) but I have begun bleeding just a day or two thereafter. I think it's more than "implantation bleeding" because it looks more like blood associated with my periods. Is it possible to miscarry this early? Would that be considered a miscarriage? If so, should I see my doctor? I was hopeful that it was that random bleeding I've heard women have in early stages, but I have cramping, not unlike my period. Any advice or explanations would be so very much appreciated. Thank you for your time!
AnswerTracey,
It is possible to miscarry this early. In fact, a lot of women don't even know they have miscarried because sometimes, it is just like a regular period. That isn't always the case though. Although bleeding in pregnancy is alarming, especially when associated with cramping, it doesn't always mean miscarriage. I suggest that you have your doctor send you for some lab work (serum HCG). If your levels double after 72hrs, then things look good, if your levels fall, or aren't high enough, that can indicate miscarriage. I hope this helps. Good luck!
