QuestionFrom the first day of my last cycle to the next one its only 17 days. Is this normal? I want to concieve and have been trying for about three months so far no luck. Im going to keep trying. Its just that No ovulation calculators go that low.
AnswerDear Renee,
Cycle lengths shorter than 26 days are not the norm. Most women have cycle lengths of 26-33 days.
Due to your short cycles, you may be fertile very early in your cycle. We actually expect ovulation to occur approximately 14 days before the onset of the next period. So in a short menstrual cycle, ovulation may come very soon after the period. In fact, this is how some women have actually gotten pregnant during a period.
It may be that this is the case for you. Do you notice when your cervical mucus tends to get more abundant and wetter - like an egg whites consistency? Is it maybe right before your period begins? Sperm cells can last up to five days under ideal conditions, which is usually right before ovulation. Try having sex every other day during that time. Before you go and spend tons of money on gadgets and specialists to try and help you conceive, consider this as a possibility. What do you have to lose? :-)
I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and fantastic results.
