Understanding Your Period Cycle After Starting Birth Control

Question
I am just confused about my cycle.

I started my period either April 30th or May 1st (around there) so let's say may 1st to make things easier.  That would make that day Day One of my cycle right? Well, I started Birth Control on May 8th, which was the sunday after my period started (which is what was instructed to me on the Sunday start method).

Does that mean my cycle was moved to Day 1 when i started taking the pill?
Or does that mean I had probably ovulated at the point I started taking the pill around May 8?

Would taking the pill have readjusted my cycle in enough time that ovulation would have stopped?

The cycle stuff is a bit confusing! Thanks in advance, Sarah.

Answer
sarah;

the first phase of the menstrual cycle,called the proliferative phase,begins with end of menstruation[the last day of your period] and lasts 14 days in an average 28-day cycle. during this phas,the ovaries prepare for ovulation,and the lining of the uterus,the endometrium,develops in preparation for fertilization.

during this second stage of menstrual cycle-at around day 14 of a 28-day cycle-estrogens in the blood reach their peak,causing an ovary to release an egg. if not,its shed later,during menstruation.

in the third part of the menstrual cycle,the secretory phase-from about day 15 to day 28-the endometrium thickens,and the ovaries produce large amounts of estrogen and progesterone. these hormones cause gland in the endometrium to secrete nutrients to nourish an implanted egg. if the egg is not fertilized,the levels of these hormones plummet.

i hope this help somewhat;
