Understanding Pregnancy: Conception Timing & Ovulation
QuestionIs it for sure that pregnency happens (if you normally have a 28 day cycle) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14 and you can conceive if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13,14, 15, or 16 each month) not any otherdays of the month.
4 Oct 74 my date of birth
AnswerI need to know the first day of your last period. Usually, you will ovulate 14 days before the start of your next perod. A sperm can remain in the reproducte tract for around 5 days but retains its ability to fertilize an ovum for 12-24 hours. An egg remains viable for 24-48 hours. Therefore, you can conceive if you have sex one day prior to ovulation until two days after ovulation. So if you ovulated on cycle day #14, you can conceive from cycle day #13,14,15, and 16. However this is not written in stone. Even though you have a 28 day cycle, it is not every month and other factors can cause delay or early ovulation. There can be a corpus luteal defect which would change the dae of ovulation, as well as other causes for delayed ovulation.I am trying to track down if there is any newer data on the life cycle of the sperm and the ovum than I last researched this last year. Sorry I cannot add anything at this time.
