Question
I have a 28 day cycle my last period lasted 6 days ended on the 4th of this month. My boyfriend and I had sex on the 5th, the condom broke and for 24 hrs ive been bleeding my period is due for a more weeks HELP!

Answer
Dear Rochaun,

If you have regular 28 day cycles and your LMP (lasting 6 days) ended on 5/4, then I'll assume it began on 4/29. If that is the case, your fertile window would not be until approximately 5/9 to 5/19, with your expected ovulation day to be on 5/13. So it would be pretty unlikely that your encounter on 5/5 would have resulted in a pregnancy. Not completely impossible, but very unlikely because the egg should not have been released yet to be able to be fertilized.

As far as the bleeding, if the bleeding began after the sexual encounter, there may be some cervical inflammation or an infection that may be causing it. Sometimes sex can also release hormones which may have prompted a bleed, but it would be a short one. If you continue to have bleeding after sex, you should see your doctor so that a cause can be determined.

I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
