ANSWER: Dear P,
Sorry about the delay in answering - I am actually supposed to be on vacation from 12/21 through 1/6, but the system apparently did not set correctly. I happened to check in to make sure and saw there were 3-4 days worth of questions, so I will attempt some very brief answers while I have a house full of company pulling me in a thousand different directions!! :-)
The inactive or "reminder" pills are of no medicinal value. As long as you have taken the active pills as scheduled when you were supposed to, you should have had no break in your protection from pregnancy.
The way that BCPs work is that they essentially fool your body into thinking it is already pregnant and suppress ovulation. Therefore, no egg - nothing to fertilize. Also, that early in your cycle would not have typically been the most fertile time for you anyway.
If you have a skipped or very spotty period with the next cycle, go ahead and test for pregnancy to ease your mind, but I would suspect you have not conceived and that the discomfort you are having is unrelated to this.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and a Happy New Year.

QUESTION: OOK. so
my last period was on jan.6.. i then had unproteced sex on jan.10 ( my period was ended).. then i took the "plan B" pill the next day.. jan11..i experienced some bleeding 4 days after i took the pill..but only for about one day.. my next period was suppose to be Feb.3 (28 days from when my last period came).. i was just wondering how late a period can come if you took the morning after pill? and if i should be worried..
AnswerDear P,
I will make the assumption that you took the Plan B as it should be taken - One tablet of Plan B should be taken orally as soon as possible within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. The second tablet should be taken 12 hours after the first dose.
Now, taking emergency contraception WILL typically alter your menstrual cycles. Some women may experience spotting a few days after taking Plan B. At the time of expected menses, approximately 75% of women using Plan B have vaginal bleeding similar to their normal menses, 12-13% bleed more than usual, and 12% bleed less than usual. Most (87%) have their next period within a week of the expected time but some (13%) experience a delay of more than 7 days.
If your period is delayed beyond 7 days of the date you expect to receive it, you should test for pregnancy to make sure you have not conceived. More than likely this will be due to the effects of the hormone in the Plan B, but you will need to make sure. If you have to test, make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.

PS. If you are still on the Yasmin faithfully, there actually should not have been a need for the Plan B. And the combination of the two may cause some real irregularity in your next cycle or two due to hormone fluctuations.
