Loestrin 24 & Cycle Disruption: Understanding Potential Effects

Question
I just got a prescription filled for Loestrin 24(8/2/06). My last period was on July 21. I should be getting my period somewhere around Aug. 17. I plan on going away in September and according to my calculations I should get my period on Sept.13 if I get my period on Aug.17. MY QUESTION IS: Once I start taking the pill (which should be Sunday Aug.20)will it take my cycle off track? I'll be away the weekend of Sept. 22 and dont want to have my period & I'm concerned that once I start taking the pill in August, it will take my period off track & I'll end up getting my period the weekend I'll be away. Will this happen?

Answer
HI Melissa,

Well if you calculate that your period should arrive a few days earlier each month, (Aug 17th, then Sept 13th) you should have it over and done with by the time you go away on Sept 22.

Of course this is assuming you get it on the 17th. If it comes earlier it would seem that you should be even more reassured that you wont have it on vacation, then.

So I think you will be just fine, but if you want I dont see the harm in calling and speaking to the nurse or your doctor to double check.

Good luck!
