Post-Abortion Period Irregularities: What to Expect & When to Worry

Question
I had an aspiration procedure on 2/25 and started my birth control the day after. As of yesterday, I am on the non hormonal week therefore should be getting my period.  I've had sex twice unprotected.  Should I be worried or is this normal? Should I be expecting my period sometime this week? I had been spotting everyday since the abortion and it comes and goes.  When should I start being concerned?
Please help.

Answer
It takes 4-6 weeks for the period to come.  You may have bleeding at 6 weeks.  Ignore that and continue taking the pill as directed.  If you have been bleeding longer than 2 weeks, call the doctor.  They may have you come in for an ultrasound.  We have our patients come in if bleeding goes past 2 weeks.
